Tip of the week

TAKE LIFE BY THE HAND AND DANCE.

Kick the habit that keeps us from living the life we are meant to be living.

By Mary Jean Bedard and Beth Anderson.

There are hundreds of habits and addictions that people have that keep us unmotivated, depressed, unhappy or just plain stuck.  The common ones we hear about are in the areas such as drugs, smoking, alcohol, sex, food, etc.  Some quirky ones that we don’t think about are additions to shopping, chocolate, finger picking, vanity(buying things that make us look good, supposedly).  Some habits can be good habits such as quilting, gardening, and exercising.  Of course, the old adage of “everything in moderation” is a good way to live but how many of us have that one or two habits that we indulge in?   Anything in excess can affect our health, relationships and also our pocket book.

How about negative thoughts?  Are negative thoughts your HABIT.  This one habit can paralyze us in our lives and keep us from living the good life.   Do you dwell on what is going wrong and then looking for a way to fix it? By changing this one habit of negative thinking, you can probably have the biggest impact on shifting your life because where do all the other habits and addictions start?  From a thought and usually a negative thought.  Make the shift and start thinking positively.  Think of what is right.  Think of what you are grateful for.  Think of what you want as if you already have it.  LET THOSE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS GO. Those thoughts are a waste of time and energy and get you nowhere.  The people who I have seen overcome a habit or addiction are people who have made their mind up that now’s the time to change.  People call it rock bottom but when all is said and done it is a mental process to decide to quit first when overcoming any habit or addiction.
